What is Uniswap (UNI)?

Uniswap exchange is an Ethereum-based decentralized platform that allows anyone to exchange ERC20 tokens. The Uniswap protocol was created by Hayden Adams, who was inspired by Vitalik Buterin’s Ethereum project.

On September 16, 2020, the Uniswap team has announced the launch of the platform’s initial tokens called UNI.

All UNI tokens holders will be able to:

• Participate in the management of the Uniswap protocol.

• Participate in the distribution of funds within the community.

• Receive SOCKS liquidity tokens.

Nowadays UNI token is one of the TOP-40 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

Uniswap achievements and future plans

Recently the Uniswap project has the following main updates and news: 

• Token Lists – a new standard for creating lists of ERC20 tokens was launched.

• UNI token was launched and some tokens were distributed to users.

• Uniswap V2 – the second iteration of the Uniswap protocol was released.

• The Uniswap Team has risen $11M in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz with additional investments from USV, Paradigm, Version One, Variant, Parafi Capital, SV Angel, and A.Capital.

• The Uniswap developers are improving wallet support and added support for WalletConnect, WalletLink, Portis, Fortmatic.

What to expect in the future?

The project has no official roadmap. The Uniswap Team will continue its path towards decentralization of the platform. In the near future, we can expect the building Uniswap V3, which will dramatically increase the flexibility and capital efficiency of the protocol.
