Cardano is a multilevel blockchain platform based on Proof-Of-Stakenconsensus protocol and designed for building decentralized applications. The Cardano platform has its own internal coin called ADA.

The project started in late 2015 and was developed by a team led by Charles Hoskinson former co-founder of BitShares and Ethereum. 

The global vision of Cardano is to create a sustainable future and to build global solutions to global problems. The project setups a new standard in technology to activate a new age of sustainable, globally-distributed innovation.

Nowadays Cardano cryptocurrency is among the TOP 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

Cardano Future Plans And Achievements

According to the project’s official blog, there were the following important news and updates: 

• Cardano Foundation launched Phase 2 for Ambassador Program. This program is developed to motivate and recognize ambassadors for adding value to the community and enhancing Cardano’s brand.
• On February 20, 2020, the Ouroboros BFT hard fork took place on the Cardano network.
• In March 2020, IOHK announced the release of the Ouroboros Hydra protocol aimed at further scaling Cardano’s blockchain.
• On July 29, 2020, the Shelley era was activated.
• On the 29th of September, the Cardano celebrated its third birthday.

According to Cardano’s official roadmap, there are five different eras in the project development. The next one is the Goguen era that we can expect in the second quarter of 2021. One of the goals for the Goguen era is to create Plutus – a purpose-built smart contract development language and execution platform using the functional programming language Haskell. Goguen era will allow users from technical and non-technical backgrounds to create and execute functional smart contracts on the Cardano network.
